Each zone is more like a metroidvania dungeon with different paths, elevations, and skills needed to unlock areas and routes. It’s very satisfying exploring but there are no large open world zones like in the previous title. It removed bloat but lost something in doing so. I will say the story is leauges above the previous game and really hits hard for me. What I do not like is the lack of weapon crafting, weapon leveling, and severe lack of cosmetics.
