Öoo” is a charming yet mysterious exploration puzzle platformer where you discover creative ways to use bombs! I’ve never seen a more effective game design where the ‘power ups’ are more about game knowledge than anything else, and it’s all structured in a way it does an excellent job teaching you what needs to be done within the limited scope of actions and interactions available. Most importantly, it understands when the design has put forth all it is going to. Öoo is a superb puzzle game about a bomb caterpillar and showcases an exceptional mastery of design that immediately propels this game to be among my top favourites from this year. Abyssus

I was continuously in awe of its clever levels (and their solutions) which demonstrated a satisfying depth, even with its fairly simple mechanics, that I don’t think even more mechanically dense games could provide. This is a shockingly clever puzzle metroidvania. I don’t want to describe it here because I feel like that has the potential to spoil some of the magic. The only thing I’d want to know is that there are minimal actual upgrades that you get along the way but that makes the puzzle diversity more impressive, considering.
