Goodnight Universe is an adventure video game developed by Nice Dream and published by Skybound Games. Players control a 6-month-old baby named Isaac, voiced by Lewis Pullman, who is discovering he has psychic powers. We’re probably going to be beating the entire game tonight!

You are Isaac, a 6-month-old baby, developing mysterious psychic powers. What you want most is to be loved and accepted by your family, but a secretive tech corporation wants you for their own. The game features an immersive “camera as controller” mode, expanding on the innovative use of camera-based technology that the development team is known for. The game nails the feelings of curiosity, that drive to poke, crawl, babble, put things in my mouth, and connect with a family that doesn’t always seemed tuned in, but just might care more than my baby brain can comprehend. Every scene and room tells you more about the story, ever silence holds weight. Every heart beat (and baby laughter) matters.

From the perfectly designed soundscape (yes, the rattle and crib squeaks and little baby noise are elite), to the hauntingly sincere voice acting, this game wraps you up in a baby blanket of emotions. One minute you’re giggling at some baby chaos, the next you’re pressing your tiny forehead to the screen because (gilbert is on screen hehe jk) something hit too close to home. This game was amazing. While there are some minor typos and technical issues, the core of the game is a beautiful story that touches on loneliness and struggling to find your place in the world.
