While the game becomes challenging at times, unlike the night-time terror in Dying Light, here I can safely roam at night without being hunted every time I step outside. This relief from paranoia and fear allows me to enjoy killing zombies and exploring the maps during the darkest hours. The story itself isn’t bad, but it’s also not the best. It could have been improved if it wasn’t written by AI or just lazy writers. The ending felt too abrupt and rushed, hinting at a potential continuation in Dead Island 3. Despite this, I had a lot of fun with this goofy and silly game. Every zombie killing felt majestic and satisfying. This was pretty fun. I did a few of the sidequests and the story in just under 30 hours and I had a blast for the most part. There is also a lot of optional busy work.
