Hades I combat is more ‘flashy’ to watch, but in time people might struggle to fathom what’s going on. Hades II combat is ‘cleaner’, but can feel slower-paced. Currently, Hades I has better storytelling. obviously this is still early access, so expect it to change.

At a high level, for me Hades II feels a little more tactical. The first game had a crazy amount of invulnerability frames, making them the dominant strategy. Hades II builds on its predecessor with impressive gameplay improvements and refinements. The combat feels even smoother, making it hard to go back to the original. With a new charge attack system, mana management, and a focus on balanced builds, the game introduces fresh challenges and strategic depth. The new weapons, including the staff and sister blades, are exciting, and the game’s potential for modding is promising. Although some early access balance issues exist, including overpowered boons, Hades II remains a highly engaging and tactical experience, maintaining the high standards set by the first game.
