Director Hideaki Itsuno and the core team have returned to create the most insane, technically advanced and utterly unmissable action experience of this generation! Like, literally. I have performance anxiety – both good and bad! I get anxious when I feel like I’m not performing well in multiplayer games, and I get anxious when I’m performing really really well in action games. The combos that this game allows you to pull off really sent a surge through my veins. And I kinda don’t want to move on from it? There’s so much fun to be had here. And it really bleeds through to the characters too, because this game really doesn’t take itself seriously – and I love that.  BIGFOOT

Not everything has to be serious, and Devil May Cry 5 is something that feels like it was made with genuine joy. It feels like it was made with the word “fun” burned in the developers brains. If I had to nitpick at all, it is noticeable that DMC5 has the same story structure as DMC4 to an extent. You start as Nero trying to save the day, Nero screws up, then Uncle Dante comes to save the day – then Nero shows up right at the end for the finale to finish off what Dante started. DMC5 isn’t quite that but it is very similar, enough that it was noticeable for me. And Vergil was a ton of fun to play as, but… I was disappointed that his playthrough is much akin to his playable appearances in DMC3 and DMC4. Vergil is probably the coolest character I’ve ever seen in a game so I’m just a tad disappointed he hasn’t gotten his own proper playable story as of yet – with original levels I mean. He is a blast to play regardless, and is more enjoyable than the main 3 guys.
