However, it is eastern european jank. The forced combat levels are designed around stuff like a place burning down, making it impossible to see what you’re shooting at, or being surrounded by snipers in an arena. Sure, you can replay these levels and learn how to win, but I feel good game design would allow you to win on the first try by utilizing a skillset developed by playing the game (See S.T.A.L.K.E.R as another example of this jank). Sure, you feel like Neo by the end, knowing where everyone is, but it doesn’t feel like you gained a skill usable for the next combat sequence.
