In Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind, the team faces off against a robotic reincarnation of the Power Rangers’ long-time nemesis. Robo Rita has conjured a portal to send herself back in time so she can finally vanquish the Power Rangers by forming an alliance with her younger self. Working together, Robo Rita and Rita Repulsa rewind, rewrite, and remix the past in an attempt to stop the very formation of the Power Rangers, altering the course of history. The combat does not flow well at all. Something about the controls just seems off, and it’s not the mapping, it’s just not nearly as fluid as Shredder’s Revenge. The grab mechanic doesn’t work nearly as well as it does there And yes, this game absolutely should be compared to Shredder’s Revenge, retro 2D beat em up with 5-6 players based on older TV shows. All the characters, are EXACTLY the same. Sure, the combos are visually different due to weapons, but functionally they all behave exactly the same. They all have the same reach, they all have the same speed, they all have the same combo string of two punches, then three weapon hits. Shredder’s Revenge all the characters had unique stats, unique moves, they handled differently They felt like actual characters you were picking between. In this game, you’re picking a color, and NOTHING ELSE. This is sad. Yellow Ranger should have been light on her feet darting in with daggers while Black Ranger was lumbering a bit with his giant axe he has to heft about. It would have made sense. Instead, nothing. All carbon copies of one another.
