It’s designed to co-author tragic, twisted, and triumphant stories about imprisoned pirates, desperate colonists, starvation and survival. It works by controlling the “random” events that the world throws at you. Every thunderstorm, pirate raid, and traveling salesman is a card dealt into your story by the AI Storyteller. I got this game 2 days ago and haven’t put it down since. I try to sleep, but the visage of vengeful boomalopes burning my pawns alive and depleted uranium shells misting raiders with their poor-grade steel knives are branded to the back of my eyeballs like runes from the necronomicon. My hands shake as I order they build yet another battery shed, and even now my eyes blur from sweat pouring down my face at the prospect of a merchant coming by to sell me the advanced components I need for my fabricator. I grow tired and weary, but I am as much a slave to the game as the 3 prisoners in my dungeon.
