But when given a chance to save his daughter, he must descend once more into the nightmarish world of STEM. Horrifying threats emerge from every corner as the world twists and warps around him. Will Sebastian face adversity head on with weapons and traps, or sneak through the shadows to survive. The first game was a cool Resident Evil-like survival horror game with some cool surrealist setpieces. Overall a solid horror game, but nothing too remarkable. The sequel, on the other hand, is a much more unique experience. It’s biggest departure from the genre norms is being an open world game. The combat feels great, the aesthetics are just as spooky as the first game, and the story is serviceable. However, the open world nature of the game leads it towards feeling less focused and ultimately more like an action RPG than a survival horror game. ORDER 13

Middle-earth Shadow of War Definitive Edition Steam Pc Game

A different take on horror than the first game: mixing linear segments with open world hubs that you can take ages exploring while your missing daughter languishes in the hands of a psychotic Italian with emo hair. Don’t worry about her, she’ll be fine. The first TEW is often more liked, but the second is far and away my favorite. Sebastian is more humanized in this story, albeit with a fair share of emotional character cliches, but I like the idea that — even after all the hell he went through in the first STEM system — he’s still willing to go diving back in to save his child. He’s up there with Ethan Winters for Dad of the Year, sans detachable hands.
